“People killing people dying
Children hurting I hear them crying
Can you practice what you preaching?

Where’s the Love?”

Where is the Love? This is a post I’ve long delayed writing but in view of current happenings world-wide I have to write this post and ask where the love is.

We live in a lost generation – a prejudiced generation. A generation where segregation is the order of the day. We’re not just racist, we form groups and segregate for every reason. Social Class, financial status, marital status, skin color, gender – we judge over everything. Even in the same ‘group’, we judge and look down on each other. Where’s the love?

We live in a world where you slay your fellow human with the same bone structure and blood because he’s simply black or white or orange. A world where 15 secondary school boys beat their classmate till death simply because he’s black. A world where a man despises his woman simply because he’s stronger. A world where a woman hates men simply because she believes she should be equal. A world where classmates discriminate their fellow mates because they feel their fathers are richer. A world where married women judge single women because they aren’t married. A world where we … on and on we find reasons to judge and discriminate against our fellow men.

What is love? The dictionary says love is, a strong positive emotion of regard and affection. Simple. As Humans we should love one another. We should regard one another as ourselves and have affection towards our fellow men. What does the bible say about love?

Gal 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

How do you show love to others? By being Joyful towards others, being peaceful and not fighting, being gentle with your fellow man, being good towards your fellow human, by being loyal to your fellow human and friends, by being kind and by showing self-control. Simple. Love is peace. Peace is Love. We’re really sinful humans loved by a merciful God. Even if you became a Christian as a child, think of all the sins you’ve committed in the last one week and then remember that 2017+ years ago somebody died in advance for it. Imagine you had to sacrifice a goat for all the sins you’ve committed since January and count how many goats but yet someone who you never met – even your ancestors who lived in his time probably didn’t meet him – yet he died for you. And what does he expect in return? Does he draw up a payment plan for you? No! He gives a simple command.

Matt 22:39 – And the Second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself”

God tells us to love our fellow man as ourselves. We all bleed the same like my favorite Mandisa track says. We all have the same skeletal frame and blood. Nigerian, Kenyan, American, Jamaican same thing. When we die sadly we will all rot together and decompose. So why all the hate? Why all the segregation? Why?

God takes love so seriously a failure to love your fellow human is a denial of your love for him. What does he say in the bible?

1 John 3: 18
Dear Children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

1 John 4:8
Whoever does not Love does not know God, because God is love.

1 John 4:19-20
We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.”

Why love? Because God first loved you. Take note of verse 1 John 4:18 – For whoever does not love their brother and sister whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” It is impossible to love God whom you haven’t seen who is software and hate your brother and sister who you see – hardware.

I can hear KB rapping in the for King and Country song, ‘Oh God Forgive Us’

“Arms crossed to our homeless neighbor but arms wide to our homeless savior

Oh God forgive us”

This message is firstly to all my Christian brothers and sisters out there especially and then to others. Those in Charlottesville in the United States which just suffered a White Supremist Attack, those in the Northern Part of Nigeria who call themselves “Boko Haram”, Those in Southern Kaduna, the kidnappers, swindlers, assassins, robbers, and all the likes.

Whether you hate or not. Kill or not. One day you will die and both you and the person you hated on and judged will rot the same way. You have the same skeleton. His blood can save you when you’re dying. Stop hating. Stop judging. And Love.

Like the Sia and Labyrinth Wonder Woman soundtrack says,

“To be human is to love”

Let’s be human and let’s love. God first loved us and so we should love our fellow man. Whether he is black, white, pink, orange, gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, English, French, Spanish, African, Poor, Rich, etc. Love your brother and your sister.

Shalom!
